Guangdong Governor Ma Xingrui and Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam co-chaired the 22nd Plenary of the Guangdong / Hong Kong Co-operation Joint Conference through a video conference on May 14th.

According to the conference, this year marks the opening of the nation's 14th Five-Year Plan, which brings important missions for the Greater Bay Area (GBA) including, among other things, maintaining long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and Macao as well as promoting coordinated regional development.
Guangdong and Hong Kong should seize the opportunity to deepen cooperation in various fields, then achieve win-win development with more fruitful cooperation achievements.
It also set out five main directions for future cooperation in areas including finance, legal and dispute resolution services, innovation and technology, medicine and health care, and youth development.
For instance, it will continue to promote mutual access for financial markets of Hong Kong and Guangdong.?Hong Kong will enhance financial services with a view to elevating the role of the Greater Bay Area in supporting and leading the country's development and opening-up.
In the fields of innovation and technology, both sides have so far jointly funded more than 140 research projects under the Guangdong-Hong Kong Technology Cooperation Funding Scheme. They will strive to build a global technological and industrial innovation high-ground in the future.
Five co-operation agreements were signed after the conference, covering the 14th Five-Year Plan and "dual-circulation" strategy: the Greater Bay Area investment promotion, equine industry development, Guangzhou-Hong Kong Racing Economic Cluster and sports projects.
