On November 28th, 2024, the three-runway system at Hong Kong International Airport was officially opened. This upgrade boosted the airport’s capacity, allowing it to handle up to 120 million passengers and 10 million tons of cargo annually.
The land reclamation phase for the expansion of Macao International Airport was launched in November 2024 to enhance both the capacity and facilities of the airport.
The Phase III expansion of Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is the largest renovation and expansion project in the history of China’s civil aviation airport construction. Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport has become the world's largest single-building airport terminal as the East 4 and West 4 corridors were put into operation on December 31, 2023.
The third runway expansion project at Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport began construction in March 2020. It is designed to support an annual throughput of 80 million passengers and 2.6 million tons of cargo. The new runway is expected to be operational by the end of 2025.
Since 2019, Huizhou Pingtan Airport has completed the expansion of Terminal 2 and its flight area. The overall upgrade is scheduled to be finished in 2028.
