The Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin recently concluded the second phase of the China-Portuguese Speaking Countries Economic and Trade Exchange Seminar, equipping businesses with strategic tools to expand into Portuguese-speaking markets.

The three-day training program, held from April 16 to 18, focused on market access strategies for Brazil, offering tailored guidance for companies venturing abroad.

Specialized training to navigate overseas markets

The seminar provided enterprises with in-depth knowledge of Brazil's policies, market dynamics, and cultural landscape. It featured expert-led sessions on strategic planning, tax optimization, and risk management.

Notable speakers included Shen Yong, Vice President of ABB (China) Co., Ltd., and Liu Wenyi, a researcher at the World Youth Summit Think Tank.

The training also included site visits to key facilities within the cooperation zone, such as the Hengqin-Macao Youth Entrepreneur Valley and the Cross-Border E-commerce (Huafa) Innovation Park. These visits aimed to familiarize participants with Hengqin's business environment and policy advantages.

Government support to facilitate global expansion

Li Chong, Deputy Director of the Executive Committee of the Cooperation Zone, emphasized the zone's commitment to fostering a bridge between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. "Through these training programs, we aim to enhance enterprises' understanding of overseas markets and equip them with the knowledge needed to succeed in global trade," Li said.

The cooperation zone plans to roll out additional support measures, including specialized policies for overseas expansion and a suite of professional services. These initiatives will provide round-the-clock support for businesses targeting Portuguese and Spanish-speaking markets.

Positive feedback from participants

Yuan Fei, co-founder of Guangdong Showmac Technology Co., Ltd., noted, "This training has given us a clearer understanding of the Brazilian market. As part of the Xiaomi ecosystem, we look forward to leveraging Hengqin's platform to explore Portuguese-speaking markets and collaborate with local enterprises."

The seminar also featured roundtable discussions where entrepreneurs shared their overseas market entry strategies, fostering a collaborative atmosphere and mutual learning.

In the future, the Cooperation Zone will continue to host training programs, expanding the scope to include language and culture, legal compliance, digital transformation, and more,  aiming to provide comprehensive support for businesses seeking to thrive in overseas markets.
