The Macao SAR government has announced the formation of a new leading group to oversee the development of the Guangdong-Macao In-Depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin. The group, which will be headed by Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai, aims to strengthen coordination and accelerate progress on the second phase of the cooperation zone's development.

The initiative was unveiled on February 18, as part of a broader effort by the SAR government to improve interdepartmental cooperation. In addition to the Hengqin-focused group, Macao's authorities have also created several other cross-sectoral teams to address issues such as public administration reform, legal coordination, and urban management.

These teams are tasked with ensuring more effective governance, with a particular focus on leveraging national policies to boost Hengqin's growth. Proactive approaches will be taken to align policy, legal frameworks, and resources to ensure the cooperation zone's high-quality development.
