Guangdong's major early rice-producing areas, such as Taishan in Jiangmen, have established nine seedling nurseries. These nurseries are capable of producing seedlings for 33,000 acres of farmland, by using automated seeding machines, significantly enhancing seedling supply capabilities.
To continuously enhance farmland quality, Maoming's Gaozhou has adopted various soil fertilization and improvement techniques based on local conditions.
Agricultural material reserves are also robust. As of early January, Yunfu had procured 784,200 kilograms of early rice seeds and 131,500 kilograms of corn seeds, meeting a substantial portion of requirements. Additionally, over 46,000 sets of agricultural machinery are prepared for spring ploughing and seeding.
Notably, approximately 39,533 hectares of crops will be planted in spring, including 17,453 hectares of grain crops and 22,080 hectares of cash crops. Longchuan County has ensured adequate reserves of agricultural materials such as fertilizers and pesticides, ensuring timely delivery to farmers.
Technological advancements are also playing a crucial role. Heyuan's Zijin County has stocked 16 tons of high-quality rice seeds, 10 tons of fertilizers, and a batch of agricultural films and machinery, ready for precise allocation and supply. The town plans to grow approximately 2,866 hectares of rice in 2025 with over 1,333 hectares for early-season rice, laying a solid foundation for increased grain production.
As the 2025 Guangdong High-Quality Development Conference stated, efforts should be put into accelerating agricultural modernization, optimizing planting structures, and increasing the added value of agricultural products to promote high-quality agricultural development. The province will continue to popularize advanced planting technologies, focus on diversified cultivation, and expand the market.
