From November 23 to 25, the finals of the second Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Post-Doctoral Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition took place in Nansha, Guangzhou.
Over 800 participants, including government representatives, experts, PhD and post-doc talents, representatives of participating and award-winning project teams, representatives of investment and financing institutions, and media representatives, attended the award ceremony.

This year's competition featured seven tracks including new-generation information technology, semiconductors and integrated circuits, biomedicine and health, high-end equipment manufacturing, new materials and renewable energy, marine research and application, and other industrial fields. More than 200 high-level projects stood out and advanced to the finals, with a total prize pool of RMB 10.2 million.
During the finals, events such as the exhibition of PhD and post-doc achievements in the GBA, talent recruitment, and project achievement transformation matchmaking meetings were held simultaneously, promoting the landing of a large number of scientific research achievements in Guangdong.

According to preliminary statistics, 122 projects from this competition have reached (intended) signing cooperation with 41 units in 13 cities, covering seven fields such as new-generation information technology, biomedicine and health, and new energy and materials. The total amount of cooperation signing reached RMB 2.318 billion.
The on-site recruitment fair during the finals adopted a combination of online and offline methods. A total of 385 well-known enterprises and institutions in the GBA offered 1,219 positions, with a total recruitment of 10,991 people. The annual salary for PhD and post-doc positions was generally above RMB 400,000, with the highest reaching RMB 1.5 million.
Over 3,000 young talents from undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs at universities such as the University of Sydney and other domestic and overseas institutions participated in on-site exchange and matchmaking. A total of 2,356 preliminary employment intentions were reached.

Postdoc Saifullah from Pakistan signed a recruitment contract with the Guangzhou Institute of Industrial Intelligence on site. Saifullah regarded this recruitment as a great opportunity for local enterprises to understand his research direction. "We are trying to integrate UAVs with ships, which can be used for surveillance of certain areas. They can also be utilized to monitor water or the environment. In situations where it's dangerous for humans to go, we can send these drones to monitor the area and assist people."
He also expressed a positive outlook on the development prospects of the GBA, particularly Nansha district. He mentioned, "The companies here are giving a good salary. Moreover, the provision of a 10-year residence permit for postdocs is another attractive benefit. It is a very big opportunity for high talent to stay in Guangzhou and make our life better."

The relevant responsible person from the provincial human resources and social security department stated that PhD and post-doc talents are an important force in cultivating new productive forces and promoting industrial technological innovation.
