22 companies from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) made their mark on the 2024 Fortune Global 500 list unveiled on August 5, including 17 from Guangdong and 5 from Hong Kong.

The 22 GBA enterprises held about $1.4 trillion in revenues in 2023, which contributed around 12.7 percent of the total revenues of China's 133 Fortune Global 500 companies, which stood at $11 trillion in 2023.

The listed enterprises from Guangdong are concentrated in Guangzhou and Shenzhen metropolitan areas, with 9 based in Shenzhen, 6 in Guangzhou, 1 in Dongguan, and 1 in Foshan.

In terms of industrial distribution, the companies span diverse areas like information technology, automobile, biomedicine, finance, infrastructure development, real estate, and more.

The new energy vehicle (NEV) industry continues to exhibit a robust growth trend. As a leading company in China's new energy automobile industry, BYD, headquartered in Shenzhen’s Pingshan District, has seen a 69-position jump in its ranking compared to the previous year.

In the IT sector, Huawei still maintains the highest operating earning yield among Chinese high-tech companies.
